Happy International Women’s Day to all the women in the world. I am continuing the “Buy Nigerian” series by honoring a Nigerian designer Wanni Fuga. I love her pieces. I tried to make a purchase of the Twist set I am wearing when I visited Lagos for Detty December but I missed purchasing it as her shop was closed for the holidays. Ah it pained me oh…lol. When I returned to the States, I reached out to them via WhatsApp and they shipped it to me in Atlanta within a week. Talk about excellent customer service. I chose the Twist set in the mint green color (they have it in over 10 colors btw) as that is one color I do not have in my wardrobe. I paired it with my LV Scott box and a pair of Bottega Veneta sandals in gold. For earrings, I knew I wanted something bold so I went with my Balenciaga BB earrings
Scroll all the way down for nuggets of wisdom as we celebrate International Women’s Day : )
As we celebrate International Women’s Day today, I reflect on ways in which I personally support women all around the world….it is not by posting fine pictures on social media and saying IWD oh…I encourage every woman to take this time to reflect and be the change they want to see. Here are 5 ways I support women.
- Buy or sign up – One thing about me, imma not just support but imma buy. If my friend or any woman in business that I know is selling something, best believe I am buying. Even if I don’t believe in it or will use it, I will definitely buy it.
- Buzz– I love to buzz people’s business. I not only buy, I also share. If I know a woman who is in business, I advertise her work and share her info.
- Like or comment on their social media handles – Don’t be a hater or a lurker. I find that a lot of people would much rather like celeb photos than like or comment on their friend’s picture. Social media is a powerful tool and the more buzz you get, the better for your business.
- Encourage and compliment– Seriously…don’t block your blessings. I always encourage women in business by speaking life into them. Instead of tearing down their work, I come up with ways to encourage them by speaking positively about what they are doing. I am honestly happy for anybody winning. Good for you sis!!!.
- Push– Don’t tell me about your business idea because I will push you to start it. A lot of women have bright ideas but they sometimes need a push. If you tell me about your business idea, I will certainly add my ideas to yours.
All in all, the goal is for us all to keep winning. The sky is big enough for everyone to shine. Support a woman today
