I can scarcely believe I’m penning these words, but it’s truly my last year on the 30th floor. Next year, the big 4-0 awaits me. How on earth did I arrive here? Looking back, I’m profoundly grateful to God for every twist and turn in my life’s journey. Surprisingly, I’m eagerly anticipating the big four-zero. Although I celebrated my 39th on August 25 in Belize, I am thankful that my friends still thought to celebrate me upon my return to Atlanta. I typically take a 10-day vacation during this period – a well-deserved break, given my hectic pace. Those near and dear to me can attest to my relentless drive. I juggle almost ten hustles…this isn’t for the faint-hearted, but it’s my jam! My August vacations are precious, as they offer a breather from my bustling life.
Gratefully, my squad ensured that my special day was commemorated in style with a feast at Vendure Kitchen and Cocktails. The cherry on top? A rollicking after-party at the renowned Boum Boum ATL. Pure, unadulterated joy is what I felt, being surrounded by them. Here’s an insight into my life philosophy: I unwaveringly gravitate towards genuine affection and warmth. Consequently, I distance myself from any source of negativity— be it jealousy, resentment, or any unsettling energy. I have been like this all my life. My cut off game is second to none. Why? I just love peace and positivity. After all, life is fleeting. So, make it a point to always be where love envelops you. Thank you to my friends for being my envelope of love. But I digress; I know y’all are here for the deets on THAT DRESS!
So lets get into the fashionnnnnnnnnnnnnn!!!! This one-shoulder floral dress was undeniably a head-turner. Everyone who laid eyes on it had something positive to say.
I matched the dress with my blue CHANEL Caviar Quilted Small Pick Me Up Vanity Case. Finding this bag was like unearthing a rare gem. It was my birthday gift to myself. On my feet, I sported the Bottega Veneta Stretch Leather Strappy Thong Sandals in white. Adorning my ears were the CHANEL Crystal “Cha-Nel” Logo Drop Earrings, a thoughtful birthday present from my husband.
Now, back to the dress – there are two versions available. I really cannot form for you guys…lol… Due to my professional requirements (being in the entertainment space), I wear most outfits only once. Consequently, I’m cautious about overspending on apparel since I’d probably never wear it again (I do love to splurge on accessories though). There is the expensive version of this dress from J’Amemme (if you are a rich bish that wants to spend over $1,000) and there is also a lower end version of the dress from Mew Mews (if you are smart like me and wants to spend less than $200…lol) ….so pick your poison.
I opted for the version from Mew Mews‘ which cost around $170 with shipping . However, a hiccup arose. I chose a medium— my usual fit. But, to my dismay, it was snug. Time was of the essence, with my celebratory dinner looming. In desperation, I approached my trusted tailor nearby, hoping to get it resized. With no leeway to expand it, she suggested sourcing a matching fabric from Joann Fabrics. The extra fabric cost me $40! The dress’s modifications? Another hefty $100 (nah that tailor issa “tif”…she knew I was desperate and she preyed on it…ole jati jati lol) . So, what initially was a $170 dress eventually escalated to nearly double its price-over $300. A word to the wise— if you’re eyeing this dress, consider sizing up!
My hair is a wig set-a ponytail and bang set from Amazon and it cost less than $20. Now only plan to use this unit no more than 3 times as it may turn to sponge later…lol…because it is synthetic. I love it because it gives that salon look.
Overall I had a blast. I am thankful for friends who make out time to celebrate me. I am grateful for my friend group.
